Glossina brevipalpis is widely scattered throughout eastern parts of Africa, from Ethiopia and Somalia in the north, to Mozambique and South Africa in the south. There is a large belt west of Lake Tanganyika, in Zaire. Ancestral vector of Animal African Trypanosomiasis (AAT).
