Episyrphus balteatus, sometimes called the marmalade hoverfly, is a relatively small hoverfly of the Syrphidae family, widespread throughout the Palaearctic region, which covers Europe, North Asia, and North Africa. It is considered the most abundant native hoverfly in Central Europe.
